Activities & Places Of Interest

Places of interest and activities you can enjoy when going on a villa holiday in Keri:

The Keri Lighthouse:

Located two kilometres west of the village, this 1916 beacon offers a rugged, cinematic view of the open Ionian. The former keeper’s quarters now serve as a terrace café—the perfect spot to watch the sunset without a single cliff or headland obscuring the horizon.

The Keri Caves:

Accessible by small boat or kayak from the coast, these limestone arches offer an intimate alternative to the busier caves in the north. Expect narrow passages, echoes in natural sea chambers, and perfect ledges for cliff jumping.

Keri Lake (Lagoon):

A fascinating natural saltwater lagoon that hides an ancient secret: natural bitumen deposits, once used by the ancients to waterproof their ships. Today, it’s a tranquil birdwatching sanctuary for herons and egrets.

Avgoustiatis Wine Heritage:

Visit the local cooperative to taste the dark, earthy, and tannic Avgoustiatis red. This rare grape survived centuries of devastation thanks to the isolation of Keri’s plateau and the stubbornness of local families.

Sea Kayaking:

Paddle beneath the dramatic limestone cliffs of Cape Keri. Navigating these natural tunnels and arches under your own power is arguably the most immersive way to experience the coastline

Restaurants

Restaurants which are worth a visit:

Aperitto:

A blend of fresh seafood and international flavours, offering a broader culinary perspective while maintaining a connection to local ingredients.

Grecos:

A traditional choice for those seeking the authentic flavours of the region, specializing in classic Greek seafood dishes prepared with local flair.

Restaurant Keri Lighthouse:

Specialises in Mediterranean and seafood cuisine. The real specialty here is the setting; dining while looking out over the open ocean at sunset is an experience in itself.

Best Beaches

The best beaches to enjoy in or near Keri:

Keri Beach:

Located roughly 1km below the village, this tree-lined pebble beach serves as the primary coastal access point for the area. It is the best place to rent kayaks, find boat tours, or enjoy a quiet swim in calm, clear waters.

Agios Sostis:

Approximately 4km from Keri, this small, picturesque cove is famous for the tiny islet connected to the shore by a wooden bridge. It is family-friendly and serves as a bustling hub for glass-bottom boat excursions to spot local marine life.

Marathonisi (Turtle Island):

Accessed via a short boat ride from the nearby coast (roughly 5–6km distance), this protected islet features a stunning white-sand beach. It is a critical nesting ground for the Caretta caretta sea turtle. Visitors must respect the restricted zones marked off for turtle nests.

Laganas Beach:

Situated about 7km from the village, this massive sandy stretch is perfect if you’re looking for long walks, sun loungers, and easy access to water sports rentals.
