Porto Timoni

One of the area’s most spectacular natural attractions, Porto Timoni is famous for its remarkable double beach, where two beautiful coves sit on opposite sides of a narrow green peninsula.

You can reach Porto Timoni by hiking from nearby Afionas or by taking a boat from Agios Georgios. The walk is steep in places, but the views make the effort worthwhile. Bring water, sensible footwear and everything you need for the day, as there are no major facilities on the beaches themselves.

Best for: Hiking, swimming, snorkelling, photography and boat trips.

Afionas Village

Perched high above the coast, the traditional village of Afionas is one of the prettiest places to visit near Agios Georgios. Wander through narrow lanes lined with whitewashed houses and colourful flowers before stopping at one of the hillside restaurants for a drink or meal overlooking the Ionian Sea.

It is particularly lovely around sunset, when the views across the coastline are spectacular.

Boat trips

The waters around Agios Georgios are perfect for exploring by boat. Seasonal boat trips and boat taxis provide an easy way to reach Porto Timoni and discover secluded coves and stretches of coastline that are difficult to access from land.

Water sports

Agios Georgios offers a selection of seasonal watersports, making it easy to add a little adventure to a beach day. Depending on conditions and availability, activities include pedal boats, water skiing, banana boats, parasailing and other watersports.

Hiking and countryside walks

The hills and olive groves surrounding Agios Georgios provide plenty of opportunities for scenic walks. Explore the countryside around Pagi and Afionas or follow routes towards the coast for wonderful views across the Ionian Sea.

Paleokastritsa

Around 13km away, Paleokastritsa is one of Corfu’s most famous coastal destinations. Dramatic green-clad cliffs surround a series of turquoise bays, with opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and boat trips to sea caves and secluded beaches.

Above the coast, the historic Paleokastritsa Monastery offers wonderful views across the surrounding bays.

Angelokastro

For a dose of history and some truly spectacular views, visit Angelokastro, the dramatic Byzantine fortress overlooking the western coast. Its elevated position makes it one of the most impressive viewpoints in this part of Corfu.

For a meal right beside the sea, Delfini is a long-established local favourite. The family-run restaurant has been serving diners on Agios Georgios beach since 1969 and focuses on fresh local ingredients, seafood and traditional Greek flavours.

Look out for fresh fish, grilled octopus, shrimp saganaki and bourdeto, a traditional Corfiot fish dish cooked with tomato and potatoes.

Trattoria Katoi Fresh Food

Agios Georgios Pagon Beach

The star attraction of the resort, Agios Georgios Beach stretches along a beautiful wide bay backed by green hills. The clear waters and gently shelving shoreline make it popular with families, while the length of the beach means there is plenty of room to find a quieter spot.

Sunbeds and umbrellas are available in sections of the beach, with tavernas and beach bars nearby. Seasonal watersports include activities such as water skiing, banana boats and parasailing.

Porto Timoni

Arillas Beach
