My fiancee and I booked this villa very much at the last minute, only finding the company's details by chance. Our criteria were to have a quiet, relaxing week in a picturesque area. We were certainly not disappointed. The booking process was quick and easy, with an internet application followed up with one friendly and efficient telephone call. The documents e-mailed were up to date, informative and conclusive. The villa is 40 mins away from Faro Airport and, as private travellers, we were away form the airport before others had even found their coach. On arrival at the villa we were very impressed to find a detailed handbook, for both the villa and the local area. Also, the company provided a welcome hamper, containing bread, cheese, ham and a bottle of wine - enough to get started with. The villa itself exceeded our expectations, its exceptionally well-kept, secluded, with sweeping views; the internet pictures do not perhaps do the villa justice as it is bigger than the pictures suggest (it has a very high roof). To allay any fears, there are no massive construction sites just out of shot! The representative visited once, providing some extra information and she made a follow-up telephone call the night prior to departure. The maid visited twice and a pool cleaner once. The villa is ideally sized for a couple (with maybe a child) but four people may find it a squeeze due to the size of the bedrooms, although a party of this size can easily be accommodated.

A hire care is a must although shops, restaurants, the beach and amenities are very near by. The experience ticked all our wishes and we would not hesitate to use Villa Select again or indeed recommend the company to others.

Upon arrival we were delighted with accommodation and the location was absolutely perfect we could not have asked for more. Well maintained gardens and a panoramic view of the ocean from the villa and terrace area.

There was a generous welcome food pack provided upon arrival and the villa was well maintained by the cleaning maids

During our stay we were visited by the Villa Select Representative who was also extremely helpful with regards to places of interest in the area

Villa Es Jardi is a delightful property, very secluded and totally private situated in a quiet lane outside Cala D'Or (car hire is essential). The property is located behind a gated entrance with lots of parking space.

Inside the Villa is funished and decorated in traditional Spanish style. It has a lovely new bedroom extension in a more modern style but still in keeping with the house. All bedrooms have their own en-suite so perfect for large groups. The lounge is lovely with all the windows thrown open. Our favourite part of the villa though had to be the outside - the grounds are huge and the pool patio extremely spacious. It's a wonderful place for eating al fresco or

just enjoying a drink after an evening out. One small criticism; the sunbeds cannot be adjusted so if like me you like to sit and read you'll probably have to sit on one of the chairs instead. Guest/Visitors book would be really helpful here to leave tips and information eg you need at least two bags of coals for the barbecue. Overall this is a lovely villa, a real gem.

We stayed at this villa for a week with our 3 children and it was perfect. A wonderful clean and modern villa. The villa is so close to the marina and town that a car is not needed. It was so good we are returning again in 2010 to the same villa. Would recommend Villa Es Migjorn to anyone.

We found the villa to be clean and comfortable and the pool was a welcome relief from the heat. The master suite was particularly impressive and overall it was excellent accommodation

Reached via a gated private drive which could be locked the villa was very secure and suited our young family perfectly. The grounds were lovely and the views over to the hills were fantastic. The Villa inside was a little dated however this didn’t detract away from its location and secluded position which was excellent. Would recommend this villa to anyone who is after a quiet secluded location with lovely grounds.

Just to say, we had a lovely time at Villa Cuaranta, it's really private, peaceful and homely.

We didn't feel as though we'd booked a really extravagant holiday in these times of recession & purse-string tightening - it didn't feel so up-market that we had any guilt factor at all.

It was a home from home, comfy rather than "posh".

Highly recommended - a non guilty pleasure. (just not too highly recommended in case anyone books it when I want to go again!)

We enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to be somewhere with books and videos which we could use. We hired bikes from Xabia Bike Centre, where the folk are friendly and the rate of 6 Euros per day was pretty fair. Eurorent wanted to charge 15 Euros! The cycle route Cami Vell de Gata is nice and quiet . Make sure you go off the main road at Cami Vells, not Carrer Assagador de les Vals. A bit uphill in patches on the return. Excellent figs!

Ferry to Denia worth taking just for the views of coast 10 Euros one way 15 euros return. Take bikes and cycle back.

The towns were very nice, the amount of space we had at the villa was great, the pool was amazing. We probably stayed in the pool more than the villa, it was so much fun and there was enough room for the family. The villa was amazing it was really sad having to leave but other people have to have the same amazing experience we had.

We spent a very enjoyable week in this villa in early June of 2009. Everything was as advertised. The villa is lovely, and the scenery was spectacular. The Villa Select Rep, Barbara was very friendly and helpful, and she was a great source of information about the area. Nearby Elounda is a very nice little town with most of the services that one needs. Our only regret was that we were only there for 1 week.

This was our second visit to Villa Laguna and it was every bit as good second time round. Any problems quickly resolved for example the kettle was broken but replaced in hours!

The owner is lovely and extremely helpful and friendly. We can't wait to return to the peace and tranquillity.

Myself and my extended family were only the 2nd family to stay in this wonderful villa. There were 10 of us altogether. Wow, what a fantastic location,and a Beautiful Villa!! The villa exceeded all our expectations and more.

Not only was the villa great, so was the owner, John. He couldn't do enough for myself & family and we were made extremely welcome. We have taken our holidays with Villa Select for many years now, and they continue to find the best villas and locations all over the Med. We hope to return this year to the Villa Andreas.

This was our second visit, and the weather was more settled than last time, which was much earlier in the year. We had forgotten quite how spectacular those views really are! We had sun every day except last Thursday - we took a trip to Ithaca, so the cooler day helped. The villa was very comfortable and well cared for. The pool man came early several times a week and was away by shortly after 8, so was quite unobtrusive. Similarly the maid was very efficient, well timed and departed quickly after slightly over an hour, so her twice weekly visits were not at all intrusive. Eat at Irrida's in Fiskardo! Also, the restaurant on the beach at the far end, near the ferry pier (on the left, as you look out of the bay) is very nice. The new villas built just down the hill (under construction at the time of our last visit) do not interupt the privacy at all. We had a lunch at Assos, another at Aghia Ephemia (having visited Antisamos) and spent one day visiting the south of the island. For the rest, we just chilled out in the most relaxing and comfortable circumstances, and had a really great break. Those views really are something else!

Our third visit to this beautiful Villa in 2009 provided us with essential medicine for the soul - that we have come to expect. The Villa is situated in a large plot surrounded by Ammnoy's delightful garden with ongoing displays of colour. The terraces from the first floor encapsulate the views of the garden, the pool, the ocean and the Isle of Zante!

Even swimming in the pool provides the contrasting views of Ammnoy's colourful terrace, or stunning Mount Aenos, depending on the direction of the swim.

The facilities inside the Villa are excellent. The owners have thought of all home comforts, including a kitchen with just about every utensil that a cook is likely to need.

We are fortunate to have many holidays each year, including trips to exotic places - but Villa Ammnoy at Cephalonia is the ONLY place that has drawn us back every year !

This villa is absolutely fabulous for anyone wanting to be away from bustle, but still able to see other properties (in the distance). The views are incredible as are the sunsets over the sea.

The pool, it says it is 10m but it seems so much more, and because one end is shallow it stays lovely and warm, it is without a doubt the most amazing pool.

The bedrooms are well set out, as is the lounge and kitchen, in fact, it is quite perfect.

Fantastic holiday, Villa brill, plenty of room for 2 families, swimming pool excellent and very safe for all ages. Down a bit of a track, a shock when we first arrived but soon got used to it. Car hire essential. Maid service very efficient.

Can't fault Villa Select would use them again, and recommend them, the Rep was excellent. Only down side to the whole holiday was the honey bees from the local farm drinking the water from around the swimming pool. Hope you have as good a holiday as we did. Hide full review

Myself and my husband spent an indulgent week in Lourdas Beach view villa at the end of May. Having stayed in studios in Kefalonia before (and enjoyed every trip) we found the villa an absolute treat. It is a really beautiful, well-finished property with a gorgeous private pool and outdoor eating area...with the most amazing views over the Ionian sea.

There were 4 of us in total in the villa (2 couples) and we all agreed there was plenty of space for everyone. The villa comes with pretty much everything you would need from kitchen equipment, outdoor BBQ, a/c, satellite TV, towels etc.

The owner Kostas has a classy restaurant just down the road from the villa and it's hard not to keep going there every night for dinner as it is so near and the food is scrumptious. Teresa is the main person front of house in the restaurant and always makes an effort to take care of every customer...she has a great Irish sense of humour as well which works great with the tourists.

I would highly recommend this villa to give you what feels like an exclusive, luxury holiday without the exclusive, luxury price.

Really lovely villa, very well maintained, very clean, great views and perfect weather guaranteed. The villa also has great air conditioning which makes it perfect at night too. The owners are lovely and very helpful on all our questions and Deborah the rep was also very helpful.

We had lovely weather, 34 each day, full sun but always a gentle breeze.

At the villa the pool is great, always clean and does not require any self cleaning of flies, leaves etc.

The villa is reached via a dirt track just the other side of Ratzikli from the airport. Katelios and Skala are always quiet with very few people around in August, which is why Cephalonia is so nice. The beach down from the villa (which you can walk to via a footpath) is very good, great sand and so very empty. There are other great beaches too. Snorkeling is good too, we went around toward the rocks just before Poros. We also went Scuba Diving at Skala and the staff there were just excellent (for all ages).

We saw loggerhead turtles at Argostoli just on the front where the fishing boats are. You can buy fresh fish from the fisherman there also, although it maybe limited. There is an excellent fresh fish shop in Argostoli just up a side road from the waterfront opposite the fruit markets and a fresh meat shop 10 metres further on. Fish elsewhere is not easy unless you can wave down the man selling it from his car! Generally food is easy to get from mini markets.

We drove around the whole island one day, it takes 2 hours to get to Fiskardo and two hours back but is very enjoyable with great views - Cephalonia is a lovely island, very scenic, quiet and unspoilt with great character.

Thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing two weeks and highly recommend Turtle Beach as a villa.

This was our 5th visit to Kefalonia and our 4th with Villa Select. Once again, we were not disappointed. This villa is definitely 5 star, and is finished to the highest quality, with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday.

The pool is perfect and the views are exceptional. My only criticism would be that the jacuzzi jets are too low to feel the full benefit.

Be aware, the location is remote and the roads leading to the villa are rough, so if you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place. If you prefer being within walking distance of shops and tavernas then I would look closer to Skala or Lourdas.

Kefalonia is by far my favourite Greek Island; the people are friendly and relaxed, the food is great, and above all there is very little crime so you always feel safe.

Just remember, don't tell everybody - we wouldn't want to spoil it would we?

I am writing to thank you for our wonderful holiday at the Villa Anni, Cala Galdana, Menorca earlier this year.

We had a terrific time and would definitely recommend this villa to anyone. It had everything we could have wished for and the views were fantastic. The staff were exceptional and extremely accommodating even when we arrived well ahead of our expected time. We have friends who have property on the island and they visited us on several occasions and were suitably impressed with the quality and location of Villa Anni.

We recently had a bad experience when booking a villa on mainland Spain and we were therefore sceptical of what we might find but, in all honesty, we could not have been happier with the complete package.

A big thank you to Villa Select, from myself and my family, for an extremely relaxing and comfortable holiday in luxurious surroundings. I look forward to using your company in the near future.

My family of 8 have just returned from 2 weeks at Villa Isa and we had such a wonderful time. Everything was excellant and the views simply amazing, you could not wish for anything better. A few tiny things could do with updating a little like the bathrooms seem a little old fashioned now, but nothing spoilt the holiday. The location is outstanding there is no view like it anywhere else that we have all been to! It is just breathtaking every morning to look out of the window to such an awesome sight, it is one that stays with you forever. Cala Galdana has every thing you need, just the right amount of bars and restaurants (you must go to Cala Mitjana, Alaska and L'Escopina restaurants) , shops and supermarkets. There are loads of interesting easy walks, especially to the two neighbouring beaches of Mitjana and Macarella. A worthwhile buy is a little yellow book around 3.50 euro called ' The diary of a blister' which contains walks around/from the resort varying in length of time and distance.

The welcome pack on arrival was most useful and had lots of 'goodies' for us and we were very well looked after by Sharon.There is everything you can imagine in this villa from cutlery/crockery/electrical items to tv/washer/dishwasher/iron/hairdryers and fridge freezer. We could never get the dvd to work though but hey, who goes on holiday to watch tv anyway, especially with a view like this one!

If you have a large party we would definately recommend this villa as the upstairs front bedroom is like a suite of its own with own sitting room, balcony, bedroom, bathroom, entrance and fridge so is almost self contained and perfect for 2 families to share. Our party ranged from ages 15 up to 85 and everyone was happy all of the time with the whole holiday and none of us wished to come home.

I would strongly recommend Casa Llimpa to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday right on the sea front with ideal walks around the area. It was only a 5 minute stroll into Punta Prima where there was a lovely selection of cafe's and supermarkets ideal for the slightly older traveller. We took my parents who couldn't fault either the villa or the location. My husband spent all afternoon snorkelling right off the rocks in front of the villa while I lazed by the pool overlooking the sea views...pure luxury. The villa was spotless and had everything we needed including a TV with English channels. We would certainly go back to Menorca, Punta Prima, and definately Casa Llimpa.

The name of this villa says it all - an absolutely fantastic view of the sea and resort. The villa itself was very clean, tidy and had had all appliances that we needed, however it would be useful to have some further oven instructions! I wish we had of known that there was also towels included.(we knew about the pool towels but the bathroom towels were there too!)

Plenty of storage and a safe also. The balcony was good to have but it remained in the shade most of the day!

Due to the fact that the villa was up a very steep hill, the villa had a few steps inside leading down to the lounge area and also to the bedroom corridor and the outside balcony, which meant the children had to be very careful. The villa had lots of space in the rooms and the lovely addition of the outside pool area was great. It was hard to imagine when we read the description on the web site how you gained access to the pool and dining area on the lower level. You have to go back out of the front door and go down some steps. You are then at the pool and there was the additional dining room and changing room with toilet and shower. There was also awnings that could be pulled over part of the pool side for extra shade. The downstairs dining room and kitchen were lovely to have but a little difficult to use when all your food was upstairs but great for a bbq!

Overall, the villa was great and had everything we needed for a family holiday and the resort was fantastic. The beach was so clean with great shower and toilet facilities. Plenty of places to eat and great water slide for children also. Although we hired a car, we didn't use it that much as Cala Galdana had everything we needed. Hide full review

We stayed at Villa San Miquel for one week in June 2009. This was an absolutely superb villa with a gorgeous big pool (in the sun all day), extensive gardens, a choice of outside eating areas, bbq and a sun-downer seat. The bedrooms were all spacious (especially the master bedroom upstairs). Everything was top class and all your holiday requirements were thought of. It has everything you would ever need.

If it had aircon it would be perfect.The location is superb and it is sunny 'til late.There are no near neighbours and you can really enjoy the privacy and feel so close to the mountains its a joy.

We saw hoopoes,elonoras falcons and huge black vultures nearly every day.

Please install aircon and we'll never go anywhere else.

The best feature is the pool 8 by 4m,beautifully clean and so convenient.

Nearest supermarket is only a few minutes drive away and yet you feel you're in the country.

This was our 4th visit to Bon Jesus, though the first since it has been partially remodelled and extended.In all we have been to 5 villas in the Pollenca area, 4 of them with Villa Select.

If Bon Jesus was nice before, we feel that it is even better now! The rearranged lounge was very cosy and a better deployment of space, and the kitchen was more sophisticated. The addition of the extra terrace was a distinct plus.

All in all we had a very pleasant Spring week (we usually come to Pollenca in the Autumn), though our visit was all too short!

My son and his family joined us for our early summer holiday at Pollenca and we were all delighted with the Villa and particularly, its owner Miguel who ensured every thing went well. It was beautifully presented and had several thoughtful touches that clearly demonstrated its careful family's ownership.

We liked the quiet rural setting, yet also had quick access to Old Pollenca, Old Acudia and several varying beaches within a relatively short drive. The local Vineyards near Pollenca and Old Towns are well worth a visit.

May I suggest existing directions be reviewed now that the main route to Port D'Alcudia has been improved, they are currently a little confusing by referring to So Pobla that is actually sign posted approx 10k before turn off and took us away from motorway too early. This caused us to waste some time on minor roads when first trying to find the Villa. From Palma (Ma 13) to Port D'Alcudia, simply turn off at Junc 40, well sign posted (Ma 2200) left to Pollenca approx 12k further on, taking 2nd right at 'The Cockerell' roundabout. Hide full review

We stayed in Villa C'an Pericas last year and it was one of my most enjoyable holidays ever. The villa itself has an amazing homely feel and is very spacious. The first floor accommodation is just outstanding. The view from the large windows is gorgeous to look at first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The outside area is maintained to a extremely high standard with the grass being watered daily but automatic sprinklers giving it a fresh look. We met the owner twice when we stayed there, the first was to welcome us to his villa and wish us a pleasant holiday and the second was maintenance. Both times he was extremely polite and a pleasure to talk to. You can sense that he is really passionate about giving people the best holiday they can. I highly recommend this villa to anyone wishing to have a pleasant and extremely enjoyable holiday, I will certainly hope to come back in the future.

I saw this villa from the road when it was first built and was concerned at the time at the possible lack of privacy, but since then the garden has matured and C'an Daniel offers a peaceful and private holiday location. Show full review

The villa itself is spacious and well equipped although it could possibly do with some additional comfy seating in the lounge.

The location makes it ideal for cycling and we were able to easily reach the old town and the port.

The pool is a reasonable length and the shallow end is ideal for children and nervous swimmers. Hide full review

C'an Justo could be classed as a 'countryside' villa yet the centre of the old town of Pollenca is only a 10/15 minute walk away; ideal for visiting one of the many restaurants there without having to worry about drinking and driving. Show full review

C'an Justo could be classed as a 'countryside' villa yet the centre of the old town of Pollenca is only a 10/15 minute walk away; ideal for visiting one of the many restaurants there without having to worry about drinking and driving.

The villa itself is pleasantly decorated and furnished and the large shaded terrace is handy for escaping from the midday sun. The garden is nicely planted and the whole outside area is quiet and secluded. Hide full review

The villa is in a superb location, with a beautiful pool in idyllic surroundings and all the facilities for a brilliant family holiday. Nearby Pollenca provides all you might wish for a family night out; good shopping, some excellent restaurants and very child friendly. Previously we have always sworn never to return to the same location for a holiday - Ca Na Marge has forced us to rethink. All in all 15 out of 10...

My son and his family joined us for our early summer holiday at Pollenca and we were all delighted with the villa and particularly, its owner Miguel who ensured everything went well. It was beautifully presented and had several thoughtful touches that clearly demonstrated its careful family's ownership. We liked the quiet rural setting, yet also had quick access to Old Pollenca, Old Alcudia and several varying beaches within a relatively short drive. The local Vineyards near Pollenca and Old Towns are well worth a visit. Hide full review

Allowing for situation, views, quality of the villa and its fittings, this is the best villa we have stayed in, in over 20 years of renting.

Two or three bits which may help future renters; The brochure mentions the windy lane!! They are not joking, we had a C4 Citroen and in several places the distance warning beepers on both corners of the car were going off at the same time. The smallest car you can manage with and hire/excess insurance will save some panics, especially if you arrive late at night as we did.

The reps and pamphlets concentrate on P/Pollensa but do not overlook Alcudia, especially the old town. On this subject a section for visitors comments in the V/Select guide in the villa might be handy.

The cats at the villa,especially the siamese are very crafty and attention seeking, we are not particular cat fans but did not pick up any unwanted visitors from them.

We found the best food at "Stay" on the front at P/Pollensa.

We were a party of 4 including 7 & 8 year old children on our 10th visit to the Pollenca area all in villas and Can Pou is fantastic. The 3 bedrooms are all of an equal size with 2 smart bathrooms - one bathroom has an over the bath shower but don't let that put you off and there is no actual en suite bathroom to the main bedroom.

The actual living space is vast for the size of property especially if you include the outside verandah. Great sized kitchen and with separate utility. The pool is fabulous especially as it has the side roman steps for the kids to climb in and out.

The position is nice and rural but there are neighbours quite close next door but the planting/screening is clever and you are totally private. The best part is sitting by the pool of an evening glugging a G&T watching the sunset on the hills - stress is just a memory. Hide full review

Wow, what a wonderful holiday we had in a beautiful location.

Can G'ori has pride of place at the top of the mountain overlooking the bay of Cala San Vincente, with stunning views out to sea.

The villa is perfect for couples wanting to escape from it all but also would be perfect for a larger group to chill out.

The villa is very comfortable and the few minor things we reported were fixed the next day.

The only negative thing about the villa is that the drive up to it is rather bumpy! The roads are a complete pot hole nightmare. But if you don't fancy driving you can take a walk across the mountain down into Puerto Pollenca.

We did this twice and it only takes 25 minutes (record time!!)

We were one of the first to rent this villa after it's completion. After some worries of arriving at a building site, we were all relieved to arrive and see the villa in a completed state. The garden was very mature considering the fact that 8 weeks ago it was a dusty field and the house was faultless. It has adopted an open plan layout with a suitably large sitting room area for a family of 8 adults.

The air conditioning was a highlight as it was completely integrated into the entire house and controlled via zoned thermostats. The bedrooms are of good size and the fact that they have 6ft beds truly added to the comfort of the holiday. The house is nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle but the town is a short drive away, or a walk if the weather is not too hot. The only slight negative is that the pool could have had a slightly more luxurious feel but really this is just down to taste.

Aresti Mountain Resort comprises five villas and we booked the largest one, Villa Ira. We normally stay at 5-star hotels for our summer holiday, but we did not expect these villas to be 5-star quality or to receive such good service. We were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and high quality of everything in the villa, and found it comparable to some of the best hotels we've stayed in.

The photos on various web sites portray the villas very accurately, although the kitchen in Villa Ira is better than it looks in the photos.

The air conditioning is extremely effective and quiet, and you can leave it on at night without it keeping you awake. The shutters block out all light very effectively, so if you're used to being woken by your young children early in the morning, you might be able to sleep in a lot later than usual!

The upper level is supported by a single layer of floorboards, which are extremely well polished when you first arrive. The maid is incredibly thorough and very friendly, and she takes her time every day to make sure everything is spotless and tidy. On our last day, which was a changeover day for many of the villas, we were amazed by the very thorough cleaning by the staff we saw going on, including pressure-washing all outdoor areas.

Bathroom towels are changed daily, but you do need to bring your own pool towels. The pool is cleaned early every morning by the staff, and is slightly larger in Villa Ira than the other villas. Clouds form over the mountains to the east of the villas, but they rarely block out the sun, and never in the afternoon when the sun shines from the west (coast direction).

Unlike the other villas, the pool at Villa Ira gets the morning sun, so it gets warmer earlier in the day. The small children's pool at every villa with a depth of 40cm is perfect for small children, as it's warmer than the main pool and allows children to play and have fun in a safer area.

The satellite television is quite an elaborate set-up which consists of one dish pointed at Hotbird 13E with four receiver boxes all located in Villa Ira, which serve all five villas. Therefore four satellite channels are available at any one time across all five villas, which can be changed by the occupants of Villa Ira. When we arrived, they were tuned mainly to Greek channels, so after consulting the very helpful owner, we changed one receiver to BBC World which also benefited British guests in the other villas. We were very happy with this, as we don't like to watch much television on holiday apart from one decent English news channel to keep us up to date with what's going on in the world.

The villa is advertised with internet access, which should be requested in advance if required. This comprises the owner's netbook and a Cosmote 3G/GPRS PCMCIA card. There is no 3G coverage on this side of the island from any network, so you have to settle for 2G (GPRS) at a speed of 56kbps.

This is the best mobile internet that the infrastructure can provide on this side of the island, so it's a good effort by the owner.

Unlike Wind which has very good coverage in the villa, Cosmote's signal is very patchy, so I put the owner's netbook in a spare bedroom and configured it as a wireless router (all in Greek!), so I could wirelessly use my own laptop anywhere in the villa without having to install the Cosmote software on my own laptop. This set-up worked very well for our entire stay.

Six mountain bikes were provided for our use to cycle around the farm. I tried this once, but there wasn't a lot to see apart from nice views. In fact, it must be the quietest farm I've ever seen so the most you'll see or hear is the odd lorry visiting at night, which happened only twice during our whole week in the villa.

The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating, and on our last day, our flight didn't leave until 21:10, so the owners kindly let us use the pool and bathroom of Villa Ariadni for the rest of the day. This made us realise that what a good decision it had been to pay a little extra for Villa Ira, as although the other villas are the same quality, Villa Ira is much bigger and well worth the extra money we had paid.

The only way to improve the villas would be the bathrooms, which are comparatively small in relation to the other spacious rooms in Villa Ira.

The lighting in the bathrooms is rather dim, and the shower curtain is made from porous fabric rather than a waterproof curtain or a solid folding screen, so water passes through it. The shower is a telephone-style shower head running on a hose from a mixer tap, but there is no bracket on the wall to place the shower head into when standing up having a shower. However the water pressure is surprisingly very strong given the remote location of the villas, and a consistent temperature.

The only problem with these villas is that they're so comfortable and relaxing that they make you reluctant to go and see the rest of Zakynthos.

Apart from local shops, we ventured out only twice, once to supermarkets and a beach near Laganas, and the other time to see the shipwreck beach just up the coast from the villa. There are no proper supermarkets west of the mountains, only small shops selling local produce, including very cheap local wine which is worth trying.

Some advice: Don't leave any food lying around in the kitchen or dropped on the floor, otherwise it will attract ants. When going out, beware that if you take the key fob out of the electricity slot, everything you've deliberately left switched on (dishwasher, washing machine, battery chargers

etc) will have its power cut off a few minutes after you go out.

We got a very good deal on car hire from Budget Zakynthos, who gave us very good service.
